12 August 1999 - C Bear, the UK's only company to specialise in the manufacture of diving undersuits,
introduces Tricore, a new concept fabric developed to provide superior insulation for cold water divers. Tricore has been designed using state-of-the-art Thinsulate Insulation material
from 3M and the ultimate in modern technology, combined with 17 years of undersuit manufacturing experience.
Tricore is a new triple bonded fabric, produced by double laminating an outer breathable material, Ree-Tech from William Reed, an inner material,
polyester acrylic fleece, to an outer layer, 100gm Thinsulate Insulation Type C. This system eliminates the risk of air becoming trapped, thus providing the highest level of insulation available for
cold water divers.
Thinsulate's extraordinary qualities have led it to become the most sold undersuit specification (100gm) in the sports diving market. It provides up to
twice the warmth than the equivalent of down or polyester of comparable thickness, giving warmth without bulk. It absorbs less than 1% of its weight in water and therefore maintains its warmth in wet
conditions. Thinsulate is very durable, machine washable and dries quickly.

The outer fabric of the Tricore undersuit is woven from Rhone-Poulenc's Meryl Micro yarns producing a textile
which is soft, yet also breathable, durable and water repellent. The inner fleece gives an immediate warm feel when getting into the undersuit and the fleece fibres naturally wick away any moisture
from the body, preventing cold spots.
C Bear offers a Tricore standard undersuit designed to fit under a membrane drysuit, and a Tricore Gusset undersuit designed to fit under a neoprene
drysuit. The Tricore Gusset Undersuit has tapered and shortened sleeves and less leg width, reducing the bulk of the suit. This is achieved by inserting lycra gussets at the wrists and ankles, and
under the arms, giving 100% flexibility and freedom of movement.
Both suits are available with additional options - made to measure; 200gm lumbar pad; attached socks; keyhole for catheter.
For technical divers and divers in extreme temperatures the C Bear's AP4 Tactel Thinsulate undersuit provides the ultimate in diving insulation.
